Flint Water Crisis: Blood Draw for Checking Lead

Welldone!

Musa had taken #blooddraw to check #leadcontamination in the #tapwater we drink. He drinks nursery water with fluoride added, but probably his pediatrician just wanted to make sure that he’s fine. Look at this happy face after a hand poke. He’s such a brave little guy. The lab staff needed to search for best venous twice in both hands, but she had no clue and asked me instead, “Did he drink?” she said we had to make him well hydrated, then called her senior, the senior said “Nothing greatest, but let’s try” and they forced to inject the needle, got no blood drawed at first and Musa had started crying, but finally they did it, brought about two tubs of bloods. #musaromas only cried mildly (like his cry everybody out there knows) then laughed immediately. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 #toddlerlife #1y6d #MLabs #UofMHospital #labtest #flintwatercrisis #handpoke

[Update May 17]

We got the result of his blood draw. Thanks, Allah, everything is okay. We may continue to give him nursery water with fluoride (next time by storing in refrigerator as instruction in the label.. we were wrong all this time) and sometimes filtered tap water like what we do now.

Happy First Birthday, Musa!

#ea5512 One year ago today, without a hard and prolonged labor, you came to the world in the most beautiful way I could never ask more. If you only knew, Musa.. that I was very scary to die after delivering you, that I worried about losing chance to be a MOM of you, that I sometimes thought you would be my only child.. every time I felt, “oh, pregnant is really tough!”, and wanted to give up. However, your coming made all of my fears faded away and putting you first in my everyday life now is one thing I’ll never regret (and won’t take it for granted)!!! I have to say, “Thank you, Allah, for trusting me in taking care of him”, and yes, in the hands of lady who was disinterested in young kids, you are ‘unfortunately’ be entrusted 😀

If you deserve a better mom, please let me be that one. We have learned too many things together from zero through this first year. Why should we stop? It’s wonderful life ahead, dear baby, and your opportunities to create benefits for universe are unli mited. May you become a son who loves being closer and faithful to Allah whatever happens and we are united as family for ever up to jannah (heaven). Aamiin.

Happy first birthday, Musa! Happy mother’s day to me!

\P. S.: baby development, up and down of first year parenting, and what to expect will be written in different post.

4th Anniversary Dinner

#ea5512 With the most precious gift from Allah #musaromas, 4th anniversary dinner last night wasn’t necessary to be either high budget or romantic.. 😜😝 Yet, the food was such a blast for us! That #ThaiFriedRice tasted very similar to street-food cart in Indonesia we miss aaaaall the time! Ohhh so touching 😂😂😂

A plate costed less than $12 was filling enough for two persons and we got a basket of crackers too. Yum! Lucky us to have this old restaurant as our neighbor 😁😭

P.S.: I do thinking to write about my feeling and sharing our experience so far in sailing this marriage boat. However, our attention is still on another event coming up this weekend. May is super duper BUSY and SPECIAL month. Thank you so much for those who have been participating in our survey on Facebook 🙂

Meeting with Imam Shamsi Ali

#ea5512 Precious meeting with two germs of Indonesia: Imam Shamsi Ali and Fauziah Fauzan. Yet, taking a picture together with #imamshamsiali (far top) such beyonds our dream before coming to USA. We adore him, since we read his memoar book by Julie Nava, as an Islamic chief figure who respects others no matter what their religions are. His kindness has attrated many people to come to the Islamic center or masjid he’s in charge of, including those who came there with intention on finding errors in Islam or expressing hatred to Islam, but then ended up converting to muslim 😀 Meanwhile, Mrs. Fauziah Fauzan is leader of an honorable boarding school in Padang Panjang, West Sumatra, Indonesia, called “Diniyyah Puteri”. She was invited by Indonesia counsellor at Chicago for weeks of staying in USA to promote Islamic education. Well, I didn’t attend her speech at MSU, but in the session of our meeting she gave brief message to us which really left deep feeling in my heart. She said to ta ke care of my baby really well up to two years old and help his brain neurons to get connected perfectly (I’m still on search about it and will write it later once I found the scientific facts) by keeping screen away!!! Oh, it’s in line with the advice I heard from Ellie Risman, a parenting expert of Indonesia, and also a suggestion from “Brain Rules for Baby” book that the amount of TV a child should watch before the age of 2 is zero! Thank you so much for imam and staffs from Islamic Center of East Lansing too to have us there in their place and kindly sponsored the dishes. Totally worth it an hour trip from Farmington to the Michigan capital city! #imamshamsiali #fauziahfauzan #kjrichicago #eastlansing #lansing #islamiccentereastlansing #indonesianmuslim #indonesianevent #muslimlife #muslimhood #musliminmichigan #musliminUSA #

Today, our little warrior (武者・Musha) is turning 11 months. One simple sentence to describe the last month: Enjoy a baby who can’t refrain his tiny fingers into everything and accept that your home can’t be as tidy as before (ok, two sentences.. -_-). The end. LOL

His brain seems to developing rapidly recently as we continue to get surprises every day when finding him got the new skills either from those we never taught before or those he gained after countless repetition of learning from us. Above all these milestones:
– clapping hands, plus striking two objects to make sounds
– waving hand to say bye-bye
– playing balls (throw, try to catch, give, transfer from one hand to another.. not kick yet :P)
– returning handshake, kiss, instruction, and warning
– flipping through the pages of a book
– pulling out drawers and dressers
– saying Mama-Papa deliberately (and maem-baba-des randomly)
– responding to talking and story read, mimicing voices
– standing from squat position
WALKING is the major achievement between his 10th and 11th month and now improved into ability to turn around and carry objects during the walks. Experts say walking marks transformation from baby as external fetus to toddler as a real human. It’s altering life ‘coz both baby’s body and mind become free! Continue reading
