Basic Stir-fry Veggies

#recipega Stir-fry #gardenveggies for two Indonesian gatherings a.k.a. “#pengajian” today (Mama and Papa going to different circle) with #scrambledeggs in the center covered by ‘flowered’ #tomato. I didn’t mix them together bcs some people prefer not to eat either egg or tomato (ex: my hubby hates tomato 🙄). I noticed there’s used to be lack of veggies served in the potlucks or parties we went 😅. • • #vegetables in: #onion, #celery, tomato (juice + seeds only), #shimeji, #carrot, #cabbage, #nappa, #kabocha, #sweetcorn, #greenpeas, #broccoli. • • #cookingmama #potluck #japanlife #muslimlife Posted by @egadioniputri via Instagram

At night after the gatherings took place, a host messaged me to ask how the stir-fry could be still fresh yet all veggies are tender. I told her that basically I used little water and relied on ‘steaming’ each vegetable in the covered pan a couple minutes. The timing for adding vegetables also mattered to make them cooked thoroughly. Start from the hard ones to the soft ones, ex: carrot -> pumpkin -> cabbage -> broccoli. Don’t put some more water otherwise your already-cooked-veggies will be withered. The result should be crunchy veggies with slight seasonings traced.

Hisashiburi Quesadilla

久しぶりケサディージャー ❤️❤️❤️
(baru tahu tulisannya dalam katakana sesusah itu..haha)

My first quesadilla in Japan life chapter 2 with homemade chicken kebab and broccoli using tortilla wraps from German Trader Joe’s (wow! I thought it’s only found in USA –> hope they will also open the stores here in Tokyo soon :D) brought by hubby who’s just had business trip there.

I love how quick everything is made with tortilla. When I’m too lazy to cook breakfast, simply wrap the peanut butter and banana (oh, and chocolate sprinkles –> this is so Indonesian :P), then tadaaa.. we have proper meal! Same way for this one, I just defrosted the chicken kebab stored in a resealable bag from my freezer and drained some canned beans plus throw the veggies and cheese. No recipe needed, see?

Grilled Red Fish (Soi)

Blackened #redfish (#ソイ / #soifish in Japan), grilled with homemade #cajunseasoning. #Cookingfish always becomes a challenge for #recipega, especially if it’s the #wholefish. Removing the dirts isn’t simple and tests the patience already, moreover making it – not stinky – fully cooked without breaking the body structure • • Based on my several experiments, here are some tips I noted for #grillingfish: 1) Let the skin on 2) Use oil to coat entire fish 3) Include lemon / lime juice when marinating fish with the herbs / spices 4) Split in the middle horizontally (make it “flat” like this photo) 5) Use racks or fish griller tweezers 6) Grill in opened fire or “broil” mode • • #cookingmama #cajunfish #allrecipes Posted by @egadioniputri via Instagram

Pumpkin Soup and Cheese Baguette

Expectation: Panera bread’s Pumpkin Soup and cheese baguette. Reality: Kabocha soup with too-dense cheese bread.. and pardon for messy cream on top, I’m not a good barista -_-. Oh, @panerabread please open in Tokyo 😀 #recipega • • Anyone has tips for making lots of “window” inside the bread or making bread more airy? I followed some tips from cyber folks yet got no success yet. Hehehe.. • • RECIPE #kabochasoup: #cookpad japan (there’s lots of them, just choose one, mine was improved version :D), #baguette: #cookinglight website. #pumpkinsouprecipe from Americans look much tasty than this Japanese’s since it has a lot of ingredients. I recommended you to follow the real Panera pumpkin soup copycat recipe for the best result, but this simple one is very yummy too! (1) In a bakeware, 1/4 part >> steam in microwave 800W for 5minutes, peel the skin >> mash (2) In a saucepan, sautee 1/4 large onion + 1 garlic in 1 Tbs oil >> reduce heat, melt 1 Tbs butter (3) Add mashed pumpkin to the saucepan >> pour 250 ml cow’s milk >> stir with whisk until well combined (4) Add sugar, salt and black pepper, and boullioun if you have (I didn’t use) >> measure as desired. This soup should turn sweet. (5) Add Italian seasonings and heavy cream (optional) #homemadebread #pumpkinsoup #kabochasouprecipe #cheesebread #cheesebaguette #baguette #homemadebaguette Posted by @egadioniputri via Instagram
